Each year, the Friends Bay Shore-Brightwaters Library in Suffolk County hosts the Friends Performing Arts Series from September through May that welcomes national and international theater troupes, dancers and musicians to Long Island. Past performances have included Shakespearean plays, the New York Theatre Ballet, pianist Leon Bates and jazz. All performances are held at Suffolk Community College’s Western Campus in Brentwood. In addition to the Performing Arts Series, the library also hosts the Dr. George Goodman Memorial Film and Lecture Series that brings international films to the community each autumn.
