American Masterpieces

Lead Presenter: New York State Presenters Network

Our friends at the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation have asked us to remind NY State Presenters about the impending deadline for reviewing the American Masterpieces roster selections and completing their survey. The deadline for completing the survey is TOMORROW, Wednesday, May 26. A link to the webpage and survey appears below. Please read this full message before clicking on the link.

As you know, MAAF has identified contemporary puppetry as our theme for American Masterpieces. This genre is a rich and diverse one offering many exciting opportunities for community engagement and artist residencies.

Thanks to a partnership with the Jim Henson Foundation, we are considering a wide range of work -- from the dark and sinister and punk/rock pieces geared for adults, to the magical and whimsical and classical music pieces suitable for family audiences. Works can be offered in a festival format OR as single engagements.

Because of the diversity of the works under consideration, it's critical that you take the time to read the descriptions and view the excerpts before filling out the survey. I've spoken with at least two presenters who hadn't viewed the trailer or video excerpts before making up their minds about the selections. When they went back and viewed the clips, they called to tell me how excited they were about two of the works !

As always, we appreciate your candor and feedback on this roster. Please take the time to answer the survey and comment on any issues you think are important for us to know as we make roster selections. Excitement or concerns are both encouraged and welcomed.

One final note: We are at work on the Mid Atlantic Tours Roster for 2011-12. I am currently developing that list and you will be seeing a survey on that roster in late June.

Many thanks in advance for your feedback. It counts! Click on the link below to get to the webpage. The survey link appears at the end of the page.
